Lee Battersby: Half Man, Half Writer
I can't believe you never finished A Canticle for Leibowitz. I utterly loved that book -- and it was only this year that I read it. I also read and loved The Postman this year and I will never forgive Kevin Costner for what he did to it.
I loved the original novella, and when I came to read the novel it just felt bloated and padded in comparison. I find I rarely enjoy novels that are created from shorter originals. It's partly reading taste: I do prefer the shorter form by nature.
