Dorothy Parker was famous for the acerbic wit of her reviews. Pauline Kael was known for infusing her reviews with both accurate reflection and doses of cynical humour.
One of my favourite reviews would be totally applicable to 'The Secret': "This is not a book to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force."
I suspect it's Dorothy Parker, but I haven't the foggiest idea what she was reviewing.
